Deep Sea: Storm of Teeth by James Calloway
Fun but unfocused. I loved the concept. But for a short story it felt drawn out and the descriptions of the scenes and atmosphere took precedence over the plot or characters. The characters felt disposable (granted, for cosmic horror short story… aren’t we all?) and the reveal of the plot lynchpin was almost immediately ignored by even the main character. If you love pirates and cosmic horror (well, or just horror) This book is for you! You would think with all the ghost ships throughout history and the abyss that is the sea, you would have more swashbuckling cosmic horror tales than space tales, but you’d be wrong.
